Indian Doctors Vs International Doctors

Getting some kind of training in international platform is always Good.
We come to know
“Where we stand &
Where the world is heading ”

Interacting with international doctors from various nations like Italy, China, Turkey, Japan, UK etc., was fresh and knowledge enriching.

Few points gained through the conversation:

  1. Stress level on doctors (residents/consultants) on other countries are pretty low, due to equitable distribution of work/role
  2. Quality of patient care in India is at par with other developed countries
  3. No hurry in learning or finishing the course(specialization) at earliest.
  4. No sacrifice of personal life for professional life. Unlike in India, we totally sacrifice the personal life (marriage/kids) just for sake of completing the specialization.
  5. General health awareness and screening programs are higher in other countries.
  6. Medical curriculum is long and tedious irrespective of country.
  7. General Surgery is the mother, rest all branches are extension of training in that field. No super-specialization, sub-specialization and ultra specialization courses etc.,
  8. Indian doctors are considered academically & technically sound and hard working
  9. General assumption is that “Indian doctors are ubiquitously present in International forum to learn new things and provide best care for their patients”.

After seeing these perks on international forum, should we (Indian Doctors) fly to other countries to continue our career..?

Mostly…………
“Big NO…….”

Because India is rapidly growing and expanding in all sectors, and Medicine is no exception. Though we might get a better standard of life, But the amount of support system which we get from our own Country can’t be matched elsewhere. Whether it’s parental support for children, societal backing, diversifying one’s career into other fields, or even engaging in outright fights, the list is endless. I am not telling we can’t do these in other countries, but the ease of doing these in your own nation is totally different.

Whatever may be India is providing Great health care for its people despite its sheer size and volume. And it will persist in doing so.
